Mobile Phones - Nokia Is Sitting Pretty

Recently Nokia held it's "Nokia World 2007" conference in Amsterdam, the Finnish Mobile giant used it as a platform to declare that they were going to increase revenue over the next year, despite admitting that mobile phone prices were coming down.
The mobile manufacturer has predicted an operating profit of 16 to 17 percent within two years. Up from 15 percent predicted a year ago. All this despite that they believe mobile phone prices were coming down. Obviously the press and industry peers were sceptical with Nicolas von Stackelberg, an analyst asking, "it's hard to see where you can generate additional revenue...Expectations had been running high before this event and there's nothing earth-shattering."
These are harsh words indeed for a company that has seen off many pretenders to it's throne in the mobile phone industry. Nokia is still the mobile manufacturer that most people recognize and many people prefer the experience and reliability of Nokia mobile phones to a new brand that try too hard with unnecessary features or kooky designs.
Nokia's Chief Executive Officer Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has managed to keep the brand fresh amidst new competition by pushing new ideas through to their mobile phones. These new initiatives include making cheap mobile phones for under $50, the successful N-Series of mobiles has also reignited user interest in Nokia with models like the N95 providing built in music, video and GPS.
By bundling Internet services such as the Maps service, a new music store for it's mobile phones and the future development: Re-introducing the N-Gage gaming platform means that Nokia is embracing the ideology that mobile phones are much more these days with many devices being "all in one" solutions.
From what we've seen over this year alone it leaves Nokia in good stead to make good on their predictions and with the acknowledgement that mobile phones are coming down in price then hopefully we can see some of these savings being passed down to the customers in the form of attractive deals on Nokia Mobile Phones.
